About Me
Introduction:
I am an Oklahoma girl through and through. I live on a small farm with my husband of 24 years, our two sons, and our two mini-schnauzers. Not only am I a full-time teacher, but I also run an Airbnb and do books for my husband's construction business. Our life is full of the wonderful chaos of extra-curriculars, farm life, and church. Our family is big on adventures and traveling. In my free time, I love to spend time in my garden, raising chickens, reading, learning Spanish, singing, and learning how to play the piano.
Professional:
I have been in education for 21 years. I hold a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, and I have a Certification for English. I was a building assistant at a school while I was in college. My first year teaching, I taught 3rd grade. Then I bounced between teaching kindergarten and first grade for 14 years. After, I felt like I would eventually like to teach college, so I chose to make the leap to teaching high schoolers to see if I would like older students. I have been teaching English to sophomores and juniors for 3 years.
The Next Chapter:
The next chapter in my story is studying at Southeastern Oklahoma State University to obtain my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Reading. I look forward to applying the new skills learned to enhance my classroom as well as to better instruct the teacher candidates that I mentor.
